WHO ARE MORO BEATS

From a groundbreaking appearance on NetFlix’s (Jo Koy’s Netflix Special “In His Elements”) to curating museums in Japan, to New York’s Times Squares to the shores of California and of course a presence throughout the 7000+ islands in the Philippines, the name Moro Beats is one to be reckoned with.

The global phenomenon of the Filipino Hip-Hop group Moro Beats is one that has been percolating for many years and is starting to boil over. Built by Producer/DJ Medmessiah, the group (sometimes called the Wu-Tang Clan of the Philippines) is comprised of 12 members. A diverse group no doubt, Moro Beats transcends the boundaries of music to embody a movement of cultural awakening and unity. With stalwart MC’s Miss A, Fateeha, JMara, Flackos, H20 Klann, Prophecee, Naus, Bun Bun, Teemo, Nekro Kevs, Dizzy, Colosus and DJ Tha wzard the crew champions thought-provoking lyrics and genuine stories over superficial glamour. This philosophy not only sets them apart in the hip-hop world but also forges a deep connection with audiences seeking authenticity and depth in music. Combining these powerful songs in both English and Tagalog, DJ Medmessiah has been able to hone his deep passion and understanding that Moro Beats is a movement and not just a fad stuck in their native land. As such, in an organic way, Moro Beats has been able to extend their reach way beyond just the islands of the Philippines and has been able to breach the borders of 150+ countries. Songs such as Hunghang (with currently 15+ million plus views on youtube), Mahal Kong Pilipinas, (13+ million), Sabik Sa Trono (1.5 million), Pananabik (1.2 million) and others stand alone as musical successes.

As their global presence has been increased by the popularity of their music and music videos, and as their demand globally has also increased, Moro Beats is ready to fully embrace this momentum. Currently Moro is working on plans to tour Asia in the 4th quarter of 2024 with stops including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore among others, followed by a 1st quarter 2025 tour of Australia and a 2nd quarter line-up of North America (San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Virginia and Hawaii).

As one of the hardest working crews in the industry and remaining steadfastly strong in their Filipino and Moro roots, the group continues to carry the torch of cultural pride and innovation, not just for their own cultures but for the Hip-Hop culture. While we are all excited as to what the future will bring, we are sure that it will bring more of that Moro Beats sound.
